Grass fed: to us it's not just the trendy "meat du jour"; it's a sustainable farming practice that produces the healthiest, best tasting meat and helps ensure the future of our farm.

Raising and producing the best tasting meat on grass requires attention not only to the quality of our heritage breed cattle, sheep and pigs, but to raising only top quality grasses and forage for them to eat.  Farmers who raise grass fed livestock sometimes refer to ourselves as grass farmers. We live in Rhode Island - the North - and keeping livestock, including our cows and calves, well nourished on grass, including through the winter months,  takes planning and dedication 365 days a year.

Our goal is to raise 100% of the food that goes into our livestock.  We are well on our way with our Browning Homestead beef and lamb, which eat only what we raise ourselves.   We have chosen the breeds we raise for pork with that same goal.  Time will tell, as we research and develop our custom grass and forage crop program for 2012.

We are proud to offer you only the finest grass fed beef and lamb, all bred, born and raised on our farm in Matunuck, Rhode Island. Our beef and lamb is raised on only what we grow on our farm, and all of our beef, lamb and pork is free from hormones, antibiotics and anything else that artificially forces growth or medicates.  Starting in May 2012, we look forward to being able to offer you our Browning Homestead pork and smoked pork products on a regular basis.
